I just got this pop-up tonight on my Microsoft Edge Browser; how do I get rid of it, and what harm can come from this notification? Also, how can it be deleted completely from my system?

This will be a push notification that a rogue web site is abusing.

To disable push notifications in Edge:

Copy/paste edge://settings/privacy/sitePermissions/allPermissions/notifications into the Address bar and click enter.

To disable all notifications, toggle off the setting Ask before sending (Recommended)

or

Look at the sites listed under Allowed to send notifications and either Remove or Block any dodgy looking site.

You will likely see davsgn7p3sis73ajps9g.txqj-adguard.co.in listed here.

That notification is a scam site notification, not a real Microsoft or Windows malware alert. These pages commonly use fake virus warnings to scare users into clicking, calling, or downloading something unwanted.

To remove it from Microsoft Edge:

    1. If Edge is stuck or the pop-up will not close:
      • Right-click Start > Task Manager.
      • Select Processes.
      • Under Apps, right-click Microsoft Edge > End task.
      • Reopen Edge.
    2. Block or remove the site’s notification permission:
      • In Edge, open Settings and more > Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Site permissions > All sites.
      • Select the suspicious website.
      • Find Notifications and set it to Block.
Or, while on a site already allowed to send notifications:
      • Select View site information to the left of the address bar.
      • Under Permissions for this site > Notifications, choose Block.
    3. Make sure pop-up blocking is enabled:
      • In Edge, open Settings.
      • Go to Cookies and site permissions.
      • Open Pop-ups and redirects.
      • Make sure Block (recommended) is turned on.
    4. If pop-ups continue, block third-party cookies and clear browser cache:
      • In Edge, go to Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies and site data.
      • Turn on Block third-party cookies.
      • Clear browsing data and cache.
    5. Check Windows Security for anything that was blocked or needs action:
      • Open Windows Security and review Protection history.
      • If it shows Threat blocked, Defender already removed it.
      • If it shows Remediation incomplete, open the alert and complete the additional steps shown.
    6. Scan the device for malware:
      • Run a malware scan with Windows Defender Security.
      • If the site looked like a tech support scam, it should also be reported using Microsoft’s scam reporting page.

What harm can come from it:

    • Fake security notifications can trick users into allowing browser notifications, downloading unwanted software, or visiting malicious websites.
    • Sites that aggressively open pop-ups and misleading buttons can be used to deliver malware or unwanted software.
    • If nothing was clicked, downloaded, or allowed, the risk is usually limited to nuisance notifications.

How to remove it completely from the system:

    • Remove the website notification permission in Edge.
    • Clear cached browser data.
    • Uninstall any recently added suspicious app from Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
    • Review and remove suspicious browser add-ons if present.
    • Run Microsoft Defender and review Protection history for any blocked or incomplete remediation events.

    For ongoing protection:

    • Keep Microsoft Defender SmartScreen turned on in Edge: Settings and more > Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Security > Microsoft Defender SmartScreen.
    • Download software only from official websites or the Microsoft Store.
