Lap top camera fails to open in Zoom

I have one camera connected that is part of the laptop.

I've done many zoom meetings without problem.

No when opening the meeting it says camera failed to open.

I've removed zoom software reinstalled and updated

I've check camera security and zoom is listed as desk top app which is allowed.

Zoom web sight says about removing app and reinstalling already done.

I've updated window 11

I cannot find any alternate solutions.

Does anyone have an idea of what else i can try?

Hugh

    Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

    What message is displayed in the camera's Device Status in Device Manager?

    1. Press "Windows + X" and select "Device Manager";
    2. Click on the "View" menu and select "Show hidden devices";
    3. Expand "Cameras" (or "Imaging devices" if Cameras is not listed);

    (If neither category is displayed, let me know.)

    1. If the camera is listed, right-click and select "Properties". Check if there is an error in "Device Status".

    If you prefer, share a screenshot. Use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

    Also, share a screenshot of your system information.

    • Press "Windows + R", type msinfo32 and press Enter.

    Maximize the window and use the screenshot tool.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Since Zoom is already reinstalled, Windows 11 is updated, and camera privacy access is already enabled for desktop apps, the next checks are:

    1. Test whether the camera works outside Zoom.
      • Open Start > Camera.
      • If the preview works there, the camera hardware and Windows camera access are working, and the problem is likely specific to Zoom.
      • If it does not work there either, the issue is system-wide.
    2. Close anything else that may be using the camera.
      • Right-click the taskbar and open Task Manager.
      • End any app that could be using the camera in the background.
      • This is relevant for camera errors where another app is already using the device.
    3. Check for a physical camera block.
      • Make sure there is no privacy shutter covering the lens.
      • Check the keyboard for a camera key or Fn + camera key that may have disabled the webcam.
    4. Update the camera driver.
      • Open Start > Device Manager.
      • Expand Cameras.
      • Right-click the built-in camera and select Update driver.
      • Select Search automatically for drivers.
      • Restart the PC after the update.
    5. Check Windows Update again for optional driver updates.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
      • Then open Advanced options > Optional updates and install any camera-related driver updates.
      • Restart the PC.
    6. If the camera works in the Camera app but fails only in Zoom:
      • The issue is with Zoom settings or another app conflict, not Windows camera access.
      • Make sure no browser, Teams, or other video app is open at the same time.
    7. If the camera is blocked by security software:
      • Temporarily disable antivirus or firewall camera blocking settings and test again.
    8. Run the Windows camera troubleshooter.
      • Use Run the troubleshooter in Get Help from the Windows camera support flow.

    If Camera access is greyed out in Settings, that requires an administrator to enable it.
