Hi @Eeshan Gupta

Glad you got the account back. This message is common right after an unlock. When a Microsoft account is locked and then restored, the old sign-in saved on your PC stops working, but Excel keeps trying it, so you end up in this loop. A fresh sign-in usually clears it.

If you're on Windows, try this:

  1. First, make sure the account is fully restored. Sign in at https://account.microsoft.com and finish any verification it asks for.
  2. In Excel, go to File > Account > Sign out, then close all Office apps.
  3. Open Credential Manager from the Start menu, go to Windows Credentials, and remove the entries that start with MicrosoftOffice16. Then restart your PC.
  4. Open Excel and sign in again with the same account.

Are you using Excel on Windows, or on a Mac or phone? And does Excel work if you open it in the browser at https://www.office.com? That will tell us whether it's just the app or still the account.

If this same issue happens to you please just wait one day. If it still continues ask the Microsoft Q and A they are fast and helpfull.

    Hello,

Open a private browsing window and sign in with your Microsoft account. Ensure you have access to your Microsoft account.

    https://www.office.com/

If you can sign in successfully with your account on Office online but not on the Office desktop apps, here's what you can try

    1. Sign out of your account from the Office applications.
    2. Then, go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials.
    3. Remove all the credentials related to Microsoft Office.

    Then,

    • Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
    • Locate Microsoft Office in the list, click the three dots, and select 'Modify'.
    • Click Online Repair.

Once the repair is complete, restart your computer and open any Office application.

Sign in with your Microsoft account.

Check whether you can now sign in successfully.
