After updating my computer with Windows I lost access to my HP Offie Jet Pro 9015 printer. Scanner works but not the printer.

I received help from someone at Microsoft who found I also needed to first update my computer for updates. After this was done I no longer had access to my printer and it actually disappeared from my list of printer alternatives.

You can go to HP and download the driver for your device again.

You can either download the HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software (Internet connection required for driver installation) or the HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 EasyStart Printer Setup Software – Offline Use Only

    Hi, @Richard Lehmann

I checked Microsoft's current known issues for the recent Windows 10 updates. There is currently no listed known issue causing printers to disappear or stop printing after the September 2026 update.

Since the scanner still works but the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 has disappeared from the printer list, this may be a printer driver or Windows print configuration issue after the update.

First, please go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners and select "Add a printer or scanner" to see if Windows detects the HP printer again.

Microsoft's printer troubleshooting steps are here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/windows/hardware/printer/fix-printer-connection-and-printing-problems-in-windows

If the issue still persists, to help narrow down the issue:

    1. Is the printer connected by USB or Wi-Fi/network?
    2. Press Windows key + R, type winver and press Enter. What version and OS build does it show?
    3. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history. What is the most recent KB update installed just before the printer disappeared?

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Thanks!

Since the scanner still works but the printer disappeared after Windows updates, the most relevant fixes are to update or reinstall the printer driver, then remove and add the printer again.

    1. Check for a compatible printer driver in Windows:
      • Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
      • If the HP printer appears, select it > Manage > Update driver.
      • Try printing again.
    2. If the printer is missing, update the driver from HP:
      • Go to the printer manufacturer’s support website.
      • Search for HP OfficeJet Pro 9015.
      • Download a driver that matches the installed Windows version and system type.
      • Install it and restart the PC.
    3. Reinstall the printer in Windows:
      • Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
      • If the printer is listed, select it and choose Remove.
      • Restart the PC.
      • Return to Printers & scanners.
      • Select Add device next to Add a printer or scanner.
      • If Windows finds the printer, select Add device.
    4. If the printer is wireless, verify the PC and printer are on the same network.
      • If multiple wireless routers, extenders, or separate SSIDs are in use, Windows may not find the printer unless both are on the same network.
    5. Run the printer troubleshooter:
      • Open Settings.
      • Select Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
      • Select the printer and choose More devices and printer settings.
      • Right-click the printer and select Troubleshoot.
      • Follow the wizard.
    6. If Windows still cannot detect it, fully reinstall the HP software package from the manufacturer after uninstalling the printer and restarting.

If the issue started immediately after a specific Windows update, removing the latest update from Windows Recovery is another supported path:

    • Open Settings with Win + I.
    • Go to System > Recovery.
    • Select Restart now next to Advanced startup.
    • Choose Troubleshoot > Uninstall Updates.
    • Select Uninstall Latest Quality Update or Uninstall Latest Cumulative Update.
