Hello, I am glad you have figured it out that it is a scam. Now, How many of the gift cards are compromised. That all depends on how you purchased them. If it is a physical gift card that you can hold in your hand then. Only the gift cards that you sent a photo of a receipt OR a photo of the code on the card. Next, if it was a digital card then that card should be attached to your MS account. It all depends if it was a real gift card in the first place. I would take the necessary precautions like going to the bank and ordering a new visa/credit card if you used it to buy the gift card. Check your account balance while you are there. Its just to make sure they did not do any other damages. If you downloaded a program and they had access to your pc then you would want to delete that program. The main programs that they tend to use is anydesk or teamviewer. Things like that. If you want to go to 100% safe and feel better you can buy a external hard drive, back up your important cat photos, then reset the computer. You can also take it into a computer repair shop and just tell them what happened and that you just want to make sure no one is remote connecting to your device.
If the gift cards is all they got then that was a close call and your lucky.
You can report it to the police but usually nothing becomes of it.
