How to use a "hover over" magnification feature with a mouse click? Is this a capability of the magnification tool, much like the "Zoom in" & "Zoom out" feature? However, making it easier for someone with only one hand?

Magnifier does not provide a mouse-click “hover over to magnify” mode in the provided Windows accessibility options.

    What it does support:

    1. Turn Magnifier on with Windows key + Plus (+).
    2. Change views:
      • Ctrl + Alt + F = full screen
      • Ctrl + Alt + D = docked
      • Ctrl + Alt + L = lens
      • Ctrl + Alt + M = cycle through views
    3. In Magnifier settings, configure what Magnifier follows:
      • Mouse pointer
      • Keyboard focus
      • Text cursor
      • Narrator cursor
    4. In Magnifier settings, adjust Keep the mouse pointer behavior.

For one-handed use with a mouse, the closest built-in behavior is to use lens view or full screen view and set Magnifier to follow the mouse pointer. That allows the magnified area to move with mouse movement, but it is not described as a click-to-hover magnification feature.

To set that up in Windows 11 with a mouse:

    1. Go to Start > Settings > Accessibility > Magnifier.
    2. Select View and choose the view that works best, such as Lens.
    3. Open the Keep the mouse pointer dropdown and choose the preferred behavior.
    4. Turn on or off whether Magnifier follows the Mouse pointer, Keyboard focus, Text cursor, and Narrator cursor.

If a true hover-triggered or remapped shortcut workflow is needed, the provided Q&A points to AutoHotkey as a third-party remapping option for Magnifier shortcuts.

    Hi Charlene Dobell,

Thank you for your question. Based on the current Windows accessibility options, Magnifier does not include a built-in feature that automatically magnifies content when you click or hover over an area with the mouse.

The closest available option is to have Magnifier follow your mouse pointer as you move around the screen. As I have checked and validated, AI answer has provided the correct steps for you to follow.

If you need easier one-handed operation, you may want to explore a dedicated accessibility or screen magnification application that offers hover-based zoom controls, as this type of functionality is not currently available in the standard Windows Magnifier feature set.

You can also share your accessibility requirements through the Windows Feedback Hub (Windows + F), as real-world accessibility scenarios help inform future product improvements.
