Try these steps in order:
- Check the connection type.
- If the printer is on Wi-Fi, make sure the PC and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- If it is USB, reconnect the cable firmly and try a different USB port.
- If it is Bluetooth, make sure Bluetooth is turned on and the printer is in range.
- Restart the printer spooler service.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type services.msc and press Enter.
- Find Print Spooler.
- Right-click it and select Restart.
- Remove and reinstall the printer.
- Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the printer and choose Remove.
- Restart the PC.
- Go back to Printers & scanners.
- Select Add device next to Add a printer or scanner and follow the prompts.
- Update or reinstall the printer driver.
- Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the printer, then Manage.
- Select Update driver.
- If that does not help, download a driver that matches the Windows version and system type from the printer manufacturer, install it, and restart the PC.
- If scanning still fails but printing works, test whether the issue is with the scanner software.
- Some scan problems happen even when printing still works.
- If the printer is wireless, confirm again that both devices are on the same SSID.
