    Dear @65978226,

Good day! Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum!

Regarding this matter, if you're using Excel 2016 (MSI-based installation), Microsoft has released KB5002665 (September 16, 2026), which specifically addresses the known issue in KB5002914 that can cause certain paste operations to fail.

    You may want to:

    • Confirm whether you're using Excel 2016 MSI or a Click-to-Run/Microsoft 365 version of Office (About Office: What version of Office am I using?)
    • Install the latest version of KB5002665, as Microsoft notes that earlier versions of the fix may still have issues with workbooks that contain conditional formatting
    • If updating is not immediately possible, try using Paste Special (for example, Values, Values & Number Formatting, or Formulas) as a temporary workaround

I hope this information is helpful.

Kindly let me know when there are updates or if you need further assistance. Any updates you’re able to share would be really helpful. I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing how things are going!

Thank you for your time and patience.

Yes. Microsoft released a corrective update for Excel 2016: KB5002665 on September 16, 2026.

    Supported facts:

    • KB5002914 has a known issue where paste operations can fail silently after installation.
    • KB5002665 specifically fixes the known issue in KB5002914.
    • If an earlier version of KB5002665 is installed, paste may still fail in workbooks that contain conditional formatting. In that case, install the latest version of KB5002665 for the complete fix.

If the fix cannot be installed immediately, the documented workaround for the previous version is to use Paste Special:

    1. In Excel, go to Home > Paste dropdown > Paste Special.
    2. Try one of these options:
      • Formulas
      • Formulas & Number Formatting
      • Values
      • Values & Number Formatting
      • Link

    Also note:

    • These update packages apply to the .msi-based edition of Office 2016.
    • They do not apply to Click-to-Run editions, such as Microsoft Office 365 Home.
