my laptop keeps going to sleep

Recently, my laptop has began going to sleep in the middle of my media playing. This has never happened before. How do i stop it?

Hi, @Mia Higgins

If you haven't already, please check and go to "Start" > "Settings" > "System" > "Power & sleep". Under "Sleep", check the times set for battery power and when plugged in. Keep your preferred sleep times for now.

Please test playing the same media with the charger plugged in, then test again with it unplugged. Keep the laptop lid open and make sure the battery has enough charge.

To help narrow down the issue:

Does it go to sleep when plugged in, on battery power, or both?
Which app or browser are you using to play the media?
Does playback stop completely, or does only the screen turn off while the audio continues?

Since this happens both plugged in and on battery, and playback continues, the screen may be turning off without the laptop fully going to sleep.

Please try playing the same media in Microsoft Edge and check whether the screen still turns off.

Also, to help narrow down the issue:

Are you watching a video or only listening to audio when this happens?

Did you install any PC cleaning software or third-party antivirus software shortly before this started?

i wanted my laptop to still have the same sleep time that i set but at the same time not impact my media
