I am asked to logon to my microsoft account. When doing so I get this error message:

"Logon med adgangskode er ikke tilgængelig. Prøv en anden metode"
In english:
Logon with password is not available. Try another method.

So now I am lost, please help

That message means password sign-in is not available for that Microsoft account sign-in flow. Use another available sign-in method first, then recover the account if needed.

    1. On the sign-in screen, look for Other ways to sign in.
    2. Choose a non-password method such as a verification code sent to a recovery email address or phone number.
    3. If sign-in succeeds with a code, continue the Link to Windows setup.
    4. If no alternate method works, run the Sign-in helper. It checks the email address or phone number entered and tells what action is needed: Sign-in helper
    5. If the password is forgotten or no longer works, use Recover your account and reset it:
      • Enter the email address, phone number, or Skype name used to sign in.
      • Choose where to receive the security code.
      • Enter the code.
      • Set a new password.
    6. If the account is not recognized, verify the email domain and spelling, and try another alias or phone number on the account if one exists.
    7. If the issue is with a work or school account, contact the organization’s IT admin or use the work or school password reset option instead of Microsoft account recovery.
    8. If the account is temporarily blocked because of too many sign-in attempts, avoid repeated retries and use an alternate sign-in method when available.

If the app still fails after account sign-in works elsewhere, try signing in to the Microsoft account in a browser on the iPhone first, then return to the app and try again.

    Hi Ellis Mebus,

I understand how confusing this is when Link to Windows asks you to sign in but then says that password sign-in is not available.

Before resetting or recovering the account, I would first check whether this is happening only inside Link to Windows. On the same iPhone, please open Safari and try signing in to your Microsoft account. Then let me know:

    • Can you sign in successfully in Safari?
    • Is this a personal Microsoft account, or a work or school account?
    • When you select Other ways to sign in or Sign-in options, which methods are actually listed?
    • Does the same message appear if you restart the iPhone and begin the Link to Windows setup again?

Please note that Phone Link does not support work or school accounts, so the setup needs to use a personal Microsoft account. Also, make sure the iPhone is running iOS 16 or later, Link to Windows is up to date, and Bluetooth is enabled on both the iPhone and the Windows PC.

If the account also cannot sign in through Safari, use the Microsoft Account Sign-in Helper to check the account and the available sign-in methods: Microsoft Account Sign-in Helper

Please share what happens during the Safari test and which alternative sign-in options appear. That will help distinguish an account sign-in issue from a problem limited to Link to Windows. Thank you so much for your understanding.
