  1. To record a Teams meeting:
    1. Start or join the meeting.
    2. In the meeting controls, select More actions.
    3. Select Start recording or Start recording and transcription.
    Notes:
    • Everyone in the meeting is notified when recording starts.
    • In Teams Free, one person can record at a time.
    • For class meetings in Teams for Education, the option is More actions > Start recording and transcription.
  2. Teams can create meeting content from a recorded meeting, but for written meeting output it depends on transcription:
    • Teams can transcribe a meeting.
    • A transcript can then be viewed after the meeting, and in some cases downloaded as .docx or .vtt.
    • If the Sales agent is added to a Teams meeting, it can generate a meeting summary automatically when the meeting is recorded with transcription on.
    • To generate meeting insights with the Sales agent, transcription is required.

If the goal is meeting minutes, the closest built-in capability in the provided material is to record the meeting and turn on transcription, then use the transcript or meeting summary where available.

Note : I am not a Microsoft employee and the responses are based on experiences and best effort.

The earlier AI response seems top cover everything for Recording.

For minutes, you have 2 options.

    1. Use Copilot directly in Teams (Paid Copilot License required) with a prompt decribing exactly what you intend to achieve.
    2. Copy the recorded transcript into a Word document and use Copilot Chat (No Copilot License required) with an adequately crafted prompt.

If this works for you, please Mark is as an Accepted/Resolved, so that it can aid others as well

If some part has worked, please add additional notes, so that I(Community) can provide additional support based on additional information.

    Hi,

As the forum's AI recommended, you can record a Teams meeting by joining or starting the meeting, selecting More actions (...), and then choosing Record and transcribe > Start recording. Participants are notified when recording starts.

For Teams for Education, class meetings can also be recorded. The recording can be accessed after the meeting from the meeting chat. For channel meetings, the recording is stored in the channel's SharePoint files; for other meetings, it is saved as a OneDrive file.

For more information, see Microsoft's guidance: Organize class meetings in Microsoft Teams for Education and Find recorded Teams for Education meetings.

Teams can also transcribe a meeting. The transcript can be reviewed after the meeting, and the meeting recap can bring together the recording, transcript, notes, shared content, agenda, and follow-up tasks.

For more information, see Recap in Microsoft Teams.

If by "minutes" you mean written meeting notes, Teams provides a Meeting notes feature where participants can add an agenda, notes, and tasks during the meeting. These notes are saved and can be accessed and edited after the meeting. For Teams for Education, you can use More actions (...) > Meeting notes > Take notes during the meeting.

In addition, if the meeting is transcribed, Teams may provide AI-generated notes and follow-up tasks in the meeting recap. Availability of these AI features can depend on the meeting, transcription language, and the Microsoft 365/Copilot features available to your organization.

Therefore, if you need a written record of the meeting, you can either:

    • Record the meeting and enable transcription for a full transcript.
    • Use Meeting notes to manually capture the agenda, decisions, and action items.
    • Use the available AI-generated notes/meeting recap to create a summary, then review and edit it as needed.

Keep in mind that AI-generated notes or summaries should be reviewed for accuracy before being used as official meeting minutes.
