Why 'Signal Enhancement' option appears on Windows 11 25H2 but not in 22H2?

Hi,

I have Windows 11 22H2 Pro and a class compliant Audio Interface. Exactly on the same hardware I installed (for some testing purposes) Windows 11 25H2 Pro alongside existing 22H2.

Now I notice that for the Audio Interface as Recording Device, under its properties an option named 'Signal Enhancement' appears. But it was never there in 22H2.

What exactly has changed in 25H2 that this option explicitly appears now in 25H2 but not in 22H2?

As far as I remember this is not a new option, even my old Windows 10 Laptop's built-in sound card had this option in Windows 10 as well.

Thanks.

    Hi,

This option usually depends on the specific driver being used; its availability varies based on the driver version. It is possible that the driver you were using on Windows 10 (version 22H2) was a generic one or lacked certain features.

Realtek drivers generally include this feature, but you need to be using a driver that supports it.

There's also the issue of the device.

    Example:

    User's image

That is likely what happened in your case: on Windows 11, you have access to this feature thanks to the newer driver that came with the operating system.

    Thanks.
