Try these checks in order:
- Check whether the mouse is disappearing only while typing
Windows has a Mouse Vanish accessibility feature that hides the pointer while typing. The pointer should reappear when the mouse is moved.
- Check the hardware first
- Unplug the mouse and plug it back in.
- Try a different USB port.
- If a USB hub is being used, connect the mouse directly to the PC.
- Check for low battery or recharge it if the mouse is wireless.
- Make sure there is no dirt blocking the mouse sensor.
- If it is a Bluetooth mouse
- Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices and confirm Bluetooth is on.
- Check the reported battery level.
- If needed, remove the mouse from Bluetooth devices and pair it again.
- To pair again, press and hold the pairing button for 5–7 seconds until the light blinks, then on the PC select Add Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth and choose the mouse.
- Restart the PC
This refreshes drivers and can fix temporary mouse input problems.
- Adjust mouse settings
If the cursor is slow or behaving oddly, go to Start > Settings > Devices > Mouse > Additional mouse options > Pointer Options and adjust pointer speed.
- Check for Windows updates and driver updates
- In the taskbar search box, type check for updates.
- Select Check for updates.
- Under Windows Update, select Check for updates.
- If needed, open Device Manager, find the mouse, open Driver, and select Update Driver.
- Test the mouse on another PC
If it also vanishes or stops working there, the mouse itself may need to be replaced.
If the problem happens after the mouse has been idle, Bluetooth mice can go into hibernation after 8–10 minutes of inactivity, and it can take several seconds to reconnect.
