My computer is not being recognized. Chase bank texts me I am logging in from a new source, EVERY TIME. This has been going on for approx. a month. The only thing that has changed is my WIFI source. I used Spectrum for years, now I have T-Mobile. What do I need to do to remedy this situation?

    Hi GG

Since the issue occurs specifically with Chase, it may be related to how Chase identifies trusted devices and networks rather than a Windows problem. Mobile internet providers such as T-Mobile can assign different public IP addresses over time, which may cause banking sites to treat the connection as new. If the prompts continue, contacting Chase support would be the best way to determine whether they can review or adjust the trusted device settings for the account.

This is most likely being triggered by the network change, not by the PC itself. A new Wi‑Fi provider, a different IP address, shared network traffic, VPN/proxy use, or repeated verification attempts can cause sign-ins to be treated as unusual or as coming from a new source.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Use the same normal home connection consistently
      • Sign in from the usual home network and avoid switching between Wi‑Fi, hotspot, and other networks.
      • Shared or unusual networks can be flagged for unusual traffic.
    2. Turn off any VPN or proxy
      • VPNs and proxies can make sign-ins look like they are coming from a different location or source.
      • If one is enabled, disconnect it and try again on the normal internet connection.
    3. Avoid repeated verification attempts
      • Too many repeated requests for codes or retries can trigger temporary blocks.
      • If multiple attempts were already made, stop retrying for a while.
    4. Wait before trying again if the account is being blocked
      • Sometimes waiting a day removes the block.
      • If it still does not improve after 24 hours, wait longer if possible, up to 1 week.
    5. Try another verification method
      • If SMS is being blocked or treated as risky, use another method already connected to the account, such as an alternate email.
      • For Microsoft account sign-in issues, the Microsoft Authenticator app can also generate codes instead of relying on text messages or email. It can be added from the security settings page by selecting Set up identity verification app.
    6. Check browser and network conditions if security checks keep failing
      • Turn off private/incognito browsing.
      • Temporarily disable ad blockers or content-blocking extensions.
      • Make sure cookies and JavaScript are enabled.
      • Try a different browser.
      • Clear browser cache and cookies.
      • Restart the browser, PC, and internet connection.
    7. Try a different connection once for testing
      • Test with mobile cellular data or another trusted network.
      • If the warnings stop on another connection, that points to the current network/IP being treated as unusual.
    8. Use safer Wi‑Fi behavior
      • Do not allow automatic connection to Wi‑Fi networks that are not controlled.
