The WIdgets that used to display after my laptop booted up have disappeared. I am unable to add them back. The box to click is grayed out on the ones I used to have, and many others.

This may be caused by a recent update, Microsoft are changing the lock screen functionality on the lock screen.

    Open the Settings App.

Go to Windows Update - Update History.

Please provide a screenshot of that window showing the most recent updates installed.

This usually means the lock screen Widgets setting is turned off or unavailable for the widgets selected.

    To check and restore them:

    1. Open Start > Settings > Personalization > Lock screen.
    2. Under Widgets, review the widgets currently assigned to the lock screen.
    3. If available, turn Widgets to On.
    4. Use the more options button next to a widget to remove or customize it.
    5. Select Add widget to add supported widgets.

    Important details:

    • The order shown in Settings matches the order they appear on the lock screen.
    • Only widgets that support a small size can be added to the lock screen.
    • If a widget is grayed out, it may not be supported for the lock screen in its current form.
    • Widgets on the lock screen can tailor content based on location estimation.

If the widgets are missing from the taskbar as well, check:

    1. Right-click the taskbar and select Taskbar settings.
    2. Under Taskbar items, turn Widgets On.
    3. Press Windows key + W to open the Widgets board.
