Hearing self speak in Immersive Events

While beta testing Immersive Events for our company, every user had audio feedback of themselves speaking, except one using a VR headset. We tested this previously and there were no issues. Did something happen or a setting get toggled or is this a known bug?

    Hi Justin,

Thank you for sharing the details of your concern.

Based on your description, this appears to be an audio feedback or loopback issue affecting users who joined the Immersive Event from their computers. Since the participant using a VR headset was not affected, the issue may be related to the audio devices or audio routing on the desktop clients.

To help narrow down the cause, here are some steps you can try:

    1. Test the same audio devices in a regular Teams meeting to see whether the feedback also occurs outside Immersive Events.
    2. Ask the affected users to use a headset instead of external speakers and confirm that the correct microphone and speaker are selected on the Teams pre-join screen.
    3. If multiple participants are in the same physical room, make sure only one device has its microphone and speaker enabled.
    4. Check whether microphone monitoring, sidetone, or “Listen to this device” is enabled, and temporarily disable it.
    5. Fully quit and reopen Teams, check for available updates, and test again in a newly created Immersive Event.

If the issue occurs only in Immersive Events and can be reproduced across multiple devices, your Microsoft 365 administrator may need to open a support ticket with Microsoft Support through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center for further investigation. They have access to backend configurations and can perform a more in-depth investigation. At the very least, they can provide the most effective workaround to ensure your experience remains smooth and secure.

I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to share them in the comment below. I'm very happy to help.
