Notification box window and Calendar Window pop up issues

I am not sure why or how to disable - but after my last upgrade, the Notifications box window and Calendar window, which are stacked together, will randomly pop up on the lower right hand side of the screen. I have disabled notifications, but randomly, and it can happen either after an hour or so on my computer or it starts right after I log in. It is annoying because when it pops up randomly, it stops me from typing or scrolling or any other action.

That panel is the Windows 11 notification center and calendar. It can open if Windows key + N is triggered.

    Try these checks:

    1. Confirm it is the Windows panel
      • In Windows 11, the notification center and calendar are combined in the lower-right area.
      • It can also be opened by selecting the clock/notification bell on the taskbar.
    2. Check for accidental keyboard input
      • Since it interrupts typing and scrolling, the most likely cause is an unintended Win + N key press.
      • Test with the keyboard for stuck or overly sensitive Windows or N keys.
      • If using an external keyboard, disconnect it temporarily and test.
    3. Check whether notifications are still enabled per app
      • Go to Start > Settings > System > Notifications.
      • Even if the main notification setting is off, review apps under Notifications from apps and other senders and make sure unwanted apps are not still configured to show banners or appear in notification center.
    4. Check Do Not Disturb / Focus settings
      • Windows uses Do not disturb and Focus Assist/Quiet Hours to control notification behavior.
      • These settings can affect how notifications appear, but they do not remove the notification center itself.
    5. If clicking the clock opens it, that is expected
      • In Windows 11, the calendar is part of the notification center.
      • Turning off notifications does not remove the calendar flyout itself.

If the panel is appearing truly on its own, the supported information points first to accidental invocation of the Windows notification center rather than a separate app window.

    Hi Mishell Klatt (s),

Please try the steps in the AI Answer first, especially checking for stuck or sensitive keys and temporarily disconnecting the external keyboard.

If the panel still opens by itself, disconnect any other input devices, such as a mouse, wireless receiver, controller or dock, and test again. You can also check Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates for available keyboard, touchpad, touchscreen or input-driver updates.

If it continues, try a clean boot by following How to perform a clean boot in Windows. This can help determine whether a background app or input utility is causing the problem. Remember to return Windows to normal startup afterward.

*Disclaimer: A "clean boot" starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background service is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step so that it will help you get back on track.

If the issue also happens during a clean boot, run the following commands one at a time in Command Prompt as administrator, then restart the computer:

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
    sfc /scannow

Allow DISM to finish before running SFC, and keep the window open until the scan reaches 100%.

Please also let me know the computer’s make and model, Windows version and OS build, whether it has a touchscreen and whether this started after an update. Please leave out the serial number and product key when replying publicly.
