No one has responded to my issues with screen saver on Laptop and PC

No one has responded to a resolution to my issues with screen saver not working on laptop and PC. PC now not booting due to the steps was given to me earlier

My PC is working fine, been able to troubleshoot the issue and now able to bring it back up with no issues except that the PC and Screen Saver option still don't work on either PC or laptop.

Also on PC now can't get into my Outlook email.

I’m glad the PC is starting again. I understand the screen saver still isn’t starting automatically on either the PC or the laptop.

When you leave either device idle, does the screen stay on, turn off, or show the lock screen before the screen saver appears?

For the Outlook email problem, I’d suggest opening a separate Microsoft Q&A question with what happens when you try to access it and any error message. That way, it can be investigated without mixing it with the screen-saver issue.

When I leave both Laptop and PC on and come back in 5 10 minutes they are on the desktop screen never goes blank or into a screen saver. Only time when screen saver works is when I turn laptop on and walk away for awhile the screen saver will be there but once I start with emails or surfing the web on both and walk away like stated earlier it will just be in the desktop screen or even if I left up my email would be there

I understand the PC is starting again, and neither device starts the screen saver after you’ve been using email or the browser and then leave it idle. On the laptop, it does appear if you turn it on and walk away before using it.

Since Preview works and you’ve already tried the one-minute setting and a clean boot, let’s check one remaining possibility without changing Windows settings: on the laptop, use it normally, then turn off the wireless mouse or unplug its receiver. Leave the laptop open and untouched for longer than the screen saver’s wait time. Does the screen saver start then?

That result may help us tell whether the wireless mouse is interrupting the idle period.

I tried what you suggested. Also when working with agent thru the Live Chat Agent had me do the same thing by shutting off mouse and take the USB for mouse out of Laptop Again screen saver did not work.

I’m sorry to hear that. You already tried turning off the mouse and removing its USB receiver with a live chat agent, and trying it again did not help.

Since Preview works but the screen saver still does not start when you leave the laptop after using it, unfortunately, I don’t have a reliable fix to suggest from the tests so far. Are you mainly trying to have the screen saver appear, or do you rely on it to lock the laptop when you step away? For now, please press Windows key + L to lock the laptop before leaving it.

What operating system are you using? I have Windows 11 Pro with all updates. Provide an image of where you are trying to select and create a screen saver.

I have Windows 11 Home. I go to settings/personalization. Attached is the desktop that changes every day. For Screen save I go to Personalization/ Lock Screen/Screen Saver setting/ Set for 1 min/ Have tried blank/mystify/ribbons.

Hello Richie Chrzanowski, I’m sorry the PC is now having trouble starting. Let’s focus on that before the screen saver issue.

When you turn it on, what do you see: a blank screen, an error message, the Windows logo, or a recovery screen? Also, which exact troubleshooting step did you take just before it stopped booting?

Please don’t make further startup or registry changes for now. Those details will help us choose the right recovery step without guessing what caused the problem.

Lets forget about my PC at this time. Want to focus on my laptop. I worked with a agent via chat who remote in and tried several things on my laptop. He downloaded the reinstall of Windows 11, after the download and installing a Error popped up We couldn't install Windows 11. We set you pc back to the way it was. 0xC1900101 - 0x20017 The installation failed in the SAVE_OS phase with an error during boot operation.

Are the screen savers used as a personal like? Most of today's computer screens don't need screen savers.
