Hi, I'm Bernard. I'm happy to help!

Kindly follow the steps provided in the AI Answer. If the issue persists, I recommend manually adding the account by following the steps below:

    On your PC:

Go to Settings> Accounts > Under Microsoft Account, click Sign in > Then follow the prompt to sign in to your Microsoft Account.

Once done, kindly wait for 24 hours for the PC to sync with your Microsoft account.

If the issue persists, kindly go to: https://account.microsoft.com/devices

    Select Register device

Then follow the prompts to register the device.

Note: It will ask for the serial number of the PC to get that:

Open Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin) (Press the Windows key + X, then select Terminal (Admin))

Copy, paste, and enter the command:

    wmic bios get serialnumber

For a Windows 10/11 PC, the normal way to add it to a Microsoft account is to sign in on that PC with the Microsoft account that should own it. Non-Surface Windows PCs are added automatically after sign-in; manual serial-number registration is only for Microsoft Surface devices.

    Steps:

    1. On the PC, open Settings > Accounts.
    2. If the PC is using a local account or a different Microsoft account, switch it to the Microsoft account that should own the device.
    3. Stay signed in on the PC and connected to the internet.
    4. Wait for the device to sync. It can take up to 24 hours for the PC to appear in the devices list.
    5. Check the device list at https://account.microsoft.com/devices.

Important details for the scenario described:

    • If the PC was removed from the old account, it can then appear under the new account after sign-in and sync.
    • If the PC is a Surface, it can also be registered manually by serial number from https://account.microsoft.com/devices using Register device.
    • If the PC is managed or owned by a company or organization, it cannot be registered to a personal Microsoft account.
    • If it still does not appear, one documented cause is that it may still be associated with another account.
