Hello... About two weeks or a month ago, I started experiencing this problem. I updated my graphics card and even performed a factory reset on my laptop and installed Windows from the official website, yet the "Sleep" option is missing from both the power options and the gray box.Screenshot 2026-09-21 020837

    Hi,

Have you checked your device manufacturer's website to make sure you have all the necessary drivers installed? I believe this may be related to the chipset and graphics drivers. If you already have the latest graphics driver installed, try installing the slightly older version instead if available, as the latest version could be causing the issue.

If Sleep is missing from Power Options, first check which sleep states Windows reports as available.

    1. Open Command Prompt as administrator.
    2. Run:
         powercfg /a

This reports the sleep states available on the system.

Since Hibernate is showing but Sleep is not, also make sure hibernation is enabled:

    powercfg /hibernate on

    Then check Power Options again:

    • Start > Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings
    • Select Choose what the power buttons do
    • Select Change settings that are currently unavailable

    Important points:

    • Windows only shows sleep options that are supported by the laptop hardware.
    • On some systems, available power policies differ depending on whether the device uses modern standby or traditional sleep/hibernate states.
    • If a power state is not supported by the machine, it will not appear in the Power menu.

If Sleep still does not appear after reinstalling Windows and checking the settings, the output of powercfg /a is the key next step because it shows whether Windows currently detects any supported sleep state.
