Click to Do not updating/not working

Unable to use Click to Do, every time I start it. It displays 'couldn't update Click to Do, Click to Do needs a few more updates before it is ready to use". Left my laptop running for a few hours, tried using it to no avail. Rebooted it, didn't work. I thought maybe my wifi was tweaking, that wasn't it. Thought I forgot an update that wasn't it either. Clicking retry flashes a similar dialogue box for a millisecond which says we are getting a few things ready for Click to Do. Please keep you PC connected to the Internet and Check back soon. I review a lot of docs so click to do is really essential to my day-to-day.

any ideas as to what can fix this?
oh My Device is a Galaxy Book 5 Pro, 10 months old and it has all the requirements needed for click to do.click to do

I went back and forth with both chatgpt and claude for a few hours and they were not able to diagnose the issue but here is what I tried:

The error shown in Settings is:

"Couldn't update Click to Do. Click to Do needs a few more updates before it's ready to use."

The Click to Do entry in Settings shows 0 bytes, and the Repair/Reset options are unavailable.

    I have checked the following:

    1. Get-AppxPackage *ClickToDo* -AllUsers → no package returned.
    2. Get-WindowsCapability -Online | Where-Object {$_.Name -match "Recall|Click"} → no results.
    3. MicrosoftWindows.Client.CoreAI is installed and reports:
      • Version: 1000.26100.9457.0
        • Status: Ok
        1. ClickToDo.exe exists at: C:\Windows\SystemApps\MicrosoftWindows.Client.CoreAI_cw5n1h2txyewy\ClickToDo.exe
        2. ClickToDo.exe version:
          • FileVersion: 2606.25000.0.0
            • ProductVersion: 2606.25000.0.0
              • Company: Microsoft Corporation
              1. The Click to Do scheduled tasks exist:
                • ModelCachingIdle
                  • ModelCachingLimit
                    • ModelCachingUpdate
                    1. ModelCachingUpdate is enabled and runs as SYSTEM. Its last run was on September 19, 2026.
                    2. The scheduled task uses COM handler CLSID: {60518D03-5471-420C-8CD8-8C3E7684CDF5}
                    3. The COM handler is correctly registered as: Click to Do model task handler
                    4. The handler uses: %systemroot%\system32\ShellConfigTask.dll
                    5. ShellConfigTask.dll exists, is 327680 bytes, and has a valid Microsoft signature.
                    6. No WindowsAI/Operational event log is present.
                    7. No obvious WindowsAI policy keys were found under: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\WindowsAI or the corresponding HKCU path.
                    8. The installed Windows updates reported by Get-HotFix are:
                      • KB5129195
                        • KB5126052
                          • KB5124007
                            • KB5120997
                              • KB5054156
                              1. No separate Click to Do/AI KB appeared in the Get-HotFix list.
                              2. I also checked for a Delivery Optimization event log, but Microsoft-Windows-DeliveryOptimization/Operational does not exist on this installation.

At this point, the Windows component, executable, scheduled tasks, COM registration, and system DLL all appear to be present and valid, but Click to Do still reports that it needs additional updates.

My guess is Microsoft fucked up with one of their recent updates and made this tool incompatible with this version.

    Hello Paras Sharma,

Thank you for providing the details. Since your Galaxy Book 5 Pro meets the hardware requirements and Windows Update is already reporting that the PC is fully up to date, I would like to narrow this down a little further.

Could you please confirm the following:

    • Are you signed in with a personal Microsoft account or a work/school account?
    • Which Windows 11 version are you running? Press Windows + R, type winver, and share the version shown.
    • Under Settings > Windows Update > Update history, do you see any recent failed updates?
    • Have you already tried opening Microsoft Store > Library > Get updates and allowing any available app updates to install?

In the meantime, please try these quick checks:

    • Open Microsoft Store > Library and select Get updates
    • Open Settings > Windows Update and select Check for updates, then install all available updates, including optional updates.
    • Restart the PC after all updates finish, even if Windows does not specifically request a restart.
    • Try launching Click to Do again after the restart.

If the answer is helpful, please click "Yes". If you have extra questions about this answer, please click "Comment".
