    Dear Heather,

Purple in Teams usually indicates Out of Office, which Teams sets automatically when someone has an Outlook automatic reply on or a calendar event marked Out of Office. It can also relate to how Teams displays external or guest accounts. To work out which applies here, could you clarify:

    • Where does the purple bar appear: Contacts, Calls, Chat, a call queue, or the Teams admin center?
    • Is the Call button missing, disabled, or present but producing an error?
    • Can the affected person call other users?
    • Can other team members call this person?
    • Is the person an internal employee, guest, external contact, or shared-line user?
    • Are you attempting a Teams-to-Teams call or a telephone/PSTN call?
    • Does the issue occur in the desktop app, web app, mobile app, or all clients?
    • What exact error appears when someone tries to call?
    • Did calling this user work previously?

Please share a screenshot showing the purple bar and nearby controls, with names, phone numbers, email addresses, and other private information hidden.

These details will help determine whether the purple indicator relates to presence/status, account type, calling permissions, licensing, a call queue, or the specific Teams interface being used. Looking forward to your reply.
