This week an Amazon icon started appearing in my taskbar, pressing it just opens an amazon.de tab in Edge. How do I stop amazon from appearing in my taskbar?

The Amazon icon is just a pinned shortcut on the taskbar. It can be removed the same way as any other pinned app or website.

    To stop it appearing:

    1. Move the mouse over the Amazon icon on the taskbar.
    2. Right‑click the Amazon icon.
    3. Select Unpin from taskbar.

If the icon came from a website pinned by Microsoft Edge, unpinning it from the taskbar is enough; it will no longer reappear unless pinned again.

If the icon is in the notification area (system tray) instead of the main taskbar row, it can be hidden:

    1. Right‑click an empty area of the taskbar and choose Taskbar settings.
    2. Under Notification area, select Select which icons appear on the taskbar.
    3. Turn Off for the Amazon (or related) icon so it no longer shows.

I should have mentioned, but it is not an icon that was pinned to the taskbar. It just appears by itself and pressing end task removes it from the taskbar

    Hi,

It sounds like the website may have been installed as an app. Open Microsoft Edge, click the three dots > More tools > Apps > View apps. Do you see Amazon listed there? If you do, click Details and you should find an option to uninstall it.

I see. In that case, you should check if it is listed as an app. Press Windows + R then enter appwiz.cpl and click OK. In the list of apps, try to check if it is there and uninstall it. If it is still not there, would you be able to make it appear again so we can check its location? If not, we may need to wait and see if it shows up again later. If that happens again, open the Task Manager, right-click on the Amazon process > Details > Open file location.

I just noticed that your default browser seems to be Chrome. In that case, open it then in your address bar, type chrome://apps/, do you see Amazon listed there?
