To recover your deleted audio driver, you can follow these steps:

    1. Open Device Manager: You can do this by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting "Device Manager".
    2. Scan for hardware changes: In Device Manager, click on the "Action" menu and select "Scan for hardware changes". This may automatically reinstall the audio driver.
    3. Manually reinstall the driver: If the driver does not reinstall automatically, you can manually install it:
      • Right-click on the audio device (if visible) and select "Update driver".
      • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software".
    4. Visit the manufacturer's website: If the above steps do not work, visit your device manufacturer's website to download the latest audio drivers for your system model.
    5. Run the Troubleshooter: You can also run the audio troubleshooter by going to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters, and then selecting the audio troubleshooter.

These steps should help you restore your audio driver and get your audio working again.

    Hi Christian,

Please see if you can install the driver via Device Manager. The following Microsoft article tells you how to do that.

Update drivers through Device Manager in Windows - Microsoft Support

If that doesn't help, run msinfo32.exe, and click System Summary. Resize the columns in the right pane to make the entries visible, and post a screenshot.

Not to worry. All you have to do is to restart your computer. Windows will detect your device and automatically install a driver. Manufacturers provide Microsoft with hundreds of drivers that Microsoft adds to Windows.

In the unlikely (but possible) chance that your device manufacturer didn't provide Microsoft with a driver for that device, you still have nothing to worry about:

    • If the audio device shipped with your computer, you can find a driver on the computer manufacturer's website.
    • If you added the audio device to the computer yourself, you can find a driver of the website of the manufacturer of the device.

In either case, simply follow the manufacturer's installation instructions.
