    Hello RaGau

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A regarding your inquiry with Outlook application. Here the PowerShell and command-line tools for both Classic Outlook and the New Outlook app. These commands are safe to run and are designed to give Outlook a fresh start. This process will remove all configured email accounts, local cache, and settings, but it won't affect your server-side data. Please back up any important local files (such as PST files) before proceeding.

    Notes Before Starting:

    • Close Outlook completely before running any commands.
    • Run PowerShell as your user account (not as administrator, unless specified).
    • After resetting, restart Outlook to set up your accounts again.

    For Classic Outlook:

    # Kill Outlook process if running
Stop-Process -Name "OUTLOOK" -Force -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
    # Remove local Outlook files (OST, PST, etc.) - optional but recommended
Remove-Item -Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Microsoft\Outlook\*" -Recurse -Force -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
Remove-Item -Path "$env:APPDATA\Microsoft\Outlook\*" -Recurse -Force -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
    # Remove all profiles from registry (adjust 16.0 for your Office version)
Remove-Item -Path "HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Profiles\*" -Recurse -Force -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
    # Optional: Disable first-run setup
New-ItemProperty -Path "HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover" -Name "ZeroConfigExchange" -Value 1 -PropertyType DWord -Force -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
    Remove-ItemProperty -Path "HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Setup" -Name "First-Run" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
    # Launch Outlook to recreate default profile
    Start-Process -FilePath "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\OUTLOOK.EXE" # Adjust path if needed

    For New Outlook:

    Simple Command-Line Reset:

Run in Command Prompt: Olk.exe --clearLocalState

    • This clears accounts and cache; confirm the dialog and restart the app.

    Or in PowerShell:

    # Close New Outlook
Stop-Process -Name "Olk" -Force -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
    # Delete local state files
Remove-Item -Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Microsoft\Olk\*" -Recurse -Force -Exclude "logs" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
    # Reset the app
    Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.OutlookForWindows | Reset-AppxPackage
    # Launch New Outlook
    Start-Process -FilePath Olk.exe

    Updating Outlook:

For Microsoft 365 installations, run this in Command Prompt as administrator to force an update:

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\OfficeC2RClient.exe" /update user displaylevel=false forceappshutdown=true

Or you could check for updates within Outlook: File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now.

Hope this help. If you have any additional concern, feel free to comment below. I be more than happy to assist.

To reset or remove all Outlook profiles, you can use the following PowerShell commands. Note that these commands will apply to the new Outlook and classic Outlook profiles:

    1. Remove Outlook Profiles: You can use the Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage command to remove the new Outlook for all users. This command will not affect classic Outlook profiles directly, but it will remove the new Outlook app if it is installed.
         Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -AllUsers -Online -PackageName (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.OutlookForWindows).PackageFullName

    2. Remove Classic Outlook Profiles: For classic Outlook profiles, you can modify the registry to delete profiles. However, be cautious when editing the registry. You can find profiles under the following registry path:
         HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles

You can delete the profiles manually from this location or use a script to automate the process.
    3. Updating Outlook: After removing the profiles, you may want to ensure that Outlook is updated. You can check for updates using the following command:
         Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.OutlookForWindows | Update-AppxPackage

Make sure to back up any important data before performing these actions, especially when modifying the registry or removing profiles.
