I have been routinely using Phone Link for ~ year, and sometimes when I lost connection between my Android cell phone and my Windows 11 PC I was able to get reconnected. Just last week I lost my connection I was not able to get reconnected. I have worked on this for ~ 5 hours now without success.

    Hi Angus McLean,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Q&A regarding the recent issue with reconnecting your Android phone to your Windows 11 PC using Phone Link.

Based on your description, this problem may be caused by a few common factors such as outdated app versions, network or permission settings, or cached data interfering with the connection.

To better assist you, could you please let me know:

    • When did the issue first occur?
    • Were there any changes made to your phone, PC, or network settings around that time?

In the meantime, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    Step 1: Update the Apps

Make sure both Phone Link on your PC and Link to Windows on your Android device are updated to the latest versions. This ensures compatibility and fixes known bugs.

Step 2: Unlink and Reconnect Devices

On your Android phone, go to Settings > Accounts > Linked Account and unlink your PC. Then, on your PC, open Phone Link > Settings > Devices and remove the current device. Reconnect using the QR code or manual setup. This refreshes the pairing process.

Step 3: Check Network and Permissions

Ensure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Disable Battery Saver and Do Not Disturb modes, and confirm that notification permissions are enabled for Link to Windows. These settings can block communication between devices.

Step 4: Clear Cache and Reinstall

On your Android device, clear the cache for Link to Windows via Settings > Apps. On your PC, uninstall and reinstall Phone Link from the Microsoft Store. This removes any corrupted data that may be causing the issue.

    Step 5: Verify Account Sync

Confirm that you’re signed in with the same Microsoft account on both your PC and Android phone. This is essential for the connection to work properly.

For more detailed guidance, you can also refer to Microsoft’s official troubleshooting page:

Please let me know if these steps help or if you’d like assistance walking through them. I’m here to support you.
