Hello Stylianos Karastergios,
Thank you for reaching out in Microsoft Q&A forum
I understand how confusing it can be when you have already unblocked a macro enabled Excel file from a trusted source, but the calculations still do not run as expected.
In this situation, unblocking the file at the Windows level is only one part of the process. Even after that, Excel may still prevent calculations if the file is not fully trusted or if the workbook is opened in a restricted state. Here are the key things to check:
- Make sure the file is opened as a macro enabled workbook. Confirm the file extension is .xlsm and not .xlsx, because macros and macro driven calculations will not run in a standard .xlsx file.
- Verify that macros are actually enabled inside Excel, not just unblocked at the file level. Open Excel, go to File, Options, Trust Center, Trust Center Settings, Macro Settings, and make sure “Disable VBA macros with notification” is selected. Then reopen the file and click Enable Content on the security warning bar if it appears.
- Another common reason calculations still do not work is that the file is not in a Trusted Location. Even trusted downloads can be restricted unless the folder itself is trusted. You can add the folder where the spreadsheet is stored by going to File, Options, Trust Center, Trust Center Settings, Trusted Locations, and adding the folder path.
- Also check Excel calculation mode. If the workbook is set to Manual calculation, formulas and macro driven calculations will not update automatically. In Excel, go to the Formulas tab and confirm Calculation Options is set to Automatic.
- If the file is opened directly from OneDrive, SharePoint, or a network location, try saving a local copy to your computer and opening it from there.
Hope this helps
