Disc Crash Problem with Windows 11 Pro
Hi, I have an OEM Clevo gaming laptop (Dream Machines) with an i9-14900HX, RTX 5060, 32GB DDR5 RAM and 3 built-in internal fans. It has PCIe Gen4 x4 M.2 slots. I’m using an M.2 Patriot P400 Lite 1TB SSD for Windows 11 Pro, and an M.2 Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB SSD for CachyOS + PikaOS. I’m experiencing very slow speeds on Windows, and the disk health (SMART) shown by Hard Disk Sentinel / Patriot tool / CrystalDiskInfo in Windows always shows exactly the same percentage at 82%. There are also days when it drops by 1% (and if the computer crashes, it will definitely drop by 1%). The drive is barely 5 months old. It doesn’t show any errors or any kind of issue, only that the SMART health drops quickly. It has slow performance and many times, especially at the beginning, it runs at 100% usage or generally at high usage. On Linux the Samsung doesn’t show such high usage percentages. When copying a file on the Patriot (from the Patriot to itself) it reached speeds of over 1 GB/s. In the last 2 days it dropped by 2%. Also, sometimes the computer is faster and sometimes slower, and this is obvious from boot/opening. Many times after a crash it opens faster and in general it is faster. What is causing this?
