Hello,

I am experiencing a persistent Windows Update issue on a clean installation of Windows 11 Pro 25H2.

System

  • Windows 11 Pro 25H2
  • Build 26200.8655
  • AMD Ryzen 9 9950X
  • ASUS PRIME X670-P
  • BIOS 3860 (2026-05-20)
  • Kingston Fury Renegade 2TB NVMe SSD

Problem

The following cumulative updates fail after reboot:

  • KB5101650 (26200.8875)
  • KB5121767 (26200.8894)

Windows starts installing the update during reboot, reaches a certain percentage, then displays "Undoing changes made to your computer". After logging in, Windows Update reports error 0x800F0922.

Troubleshooting already performed

  • DISM /CheckHealth -> No component store corruption
  • DISM /ScanHealth -> No component store corruption
  • DISM /RestoreHealth -> Completed successfully
  • SFC /SCANNOW -> No integrity violations
  • WinRE enabled and working correctly (reagentc /info)
  • EFI System Partition is 260 MB and has sufficient free space
  • Microsoft Store works normally
  • Store apps update correctly
  • AppXSVC, ClipSVC, TrustedInstaller, Windows Update and BITS services verified
  • No debloat tools
  • No registry cleaners
  • No modified Windows image
  • Fresh installation of Windows 11 (not upgraded from Windows 10)

Log analysis

CBS.log consistently fails during AppxRegistrationInstaller::CommitChanges and reports:

HRESULT_FROM_WIN32(1058)

followed by rollback and finally Windows Update error 0x800F0922.

WindowsUpdate.log does not provide any additional root cause beyond the rollback.

AppX investigation

Microsoft.WindowsAppRuntime.CBS package exists and reports Status = OK.

Get-AppPackageLog reports successful staging of WindowsAppRuntime packages, but also reports "Error 0x5" while deleting old files from:

C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Deleted

The remaining folders are:

  • Microsoft.HEVCVideoExtension
  • Microsoft.StartExperiencesApp
  • Microsoft.YourPhone

All of those packages are installed correctly and report Status = OK.

Question

Has anyone seen this specific combination of:

  • Windows 11 25H2
  • 0x800F0922
  • AppxRegistrationInstaller::CommitChanges
  • HRESULT_FROM_WIN32(1058)

where DISM, SFC, WinRE, EFI and AppX packages are all healthy?

Could this indicate a servicing/AppX registration database inconsistency or another known issue?

I can provide CBS.log, WindowsUpdate.log and AppPackageLog if needed.

Thank you.
