Microsoft Project Online Desktop Client MSO (Version 2604 Build 16.0.19929.20172) 64-Bit – OLE-Objektfehler – Einfügen eines Bildes in eine Datei oder in die Kopf-/Fußzeile in den Druckoptionen

We are currently having trouble in Project when adding pictures to the header or footer in the print options, as well as elsewhere in the project file.

Although the picture can be added, an error always appears during insertion and when printing the file, either physically or as a PDF. The issue was first reported on 05.03.2026, when the user still had version 16.0.19530.20226-x64-MEC installed.

Error/Hint:

You are about to activate an OLE object that may contain viruses or may otherwise be harmful to your computer. You may want to verify that this object comes from a trustworthy source before you continue. Do you want to continue?

The error occurs for every inserted image and appears only once per picture while the project file is open.

I tested the following image types:

  • png
  • jpg

Is this intended behavior? Can it be disabled under certain circumstances? I found reports online suggesting that a solution should help, but it does not work in my case.

So far, I have tried the following:

  • Adding the file location to the Trust Center - the error still appears
  • Reinstalling the M365 Office suite (including Project) - the error still appearsMicrosoft Project Online Desktop Client MSO (Version 2604 Build 16.0.19929.20172) 64-bit - OLE Object Error - Inserting picture in file or in header/footer in print options We are currently having trouble in Project when adding pictures to the header or footer in the print options, as well as elsewhere in the project file. Hallo Jan,

    2. Navigiere zu Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office
    3. Es müssen zwei Ordner umbenannt werden. Benenne diese Dateien um und füge jeweils ".old" an: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Common und Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\MS Project
    4. Beende den Registrierungseditor und starte den PC neu.
    5. Starte Microsoft Project.

Wie stellt sich das Verhalten dar?
