Ein Azure Backup-Dienst mit integrierter Verwaltung für beliebige Datenmengen
Thank you for your inquiry regarding the production readiness of Azure Backup for MySQL Flexible Server.
As of April 2026, there is an important distinction to make between the two types of backup solutions available for this service:
1. Standard Automated Backups (Generally Available - Production Ready)
The built-in backup and restore functionality - which provides Point-in-Time Restore (PITR) for a retention period of 1 to 35 days - is Generally Available (GA).
SLA: Fully backed by the Azure Service Level Agreement.
Usage: This is the standard, production-ready solution for operational recovery, accidental deletions, or corruption.
Storage: Backups are stored in locally redundant (LRS), zone-redundant (ZRS), or geo-redundant (GRS) storage depending on your configuration.
2. Azure Backup Vault Integration / Long-Term Retention (Public Preview)
The integration with Azure Backup Vault (which allows for Long-Term Retention (LTR) of up to 10 years) is still officially in Public Preview.
Current Status: While Microsoft has recently improved this feature (including the "Restore as Files" capability), it does not yet have a financially backed SLA.
Pause Note: Please be aware that in late 2024/early 2025, the preview for this specific solution was briefly paused for new configurations. It has since resumed in many regions, but you should verify availability in your specific region via the Azure Portal.

Microsoft does not provide a specific "productive" date for GA until it is officially announced on the Azure Updates page. However, given that it has been in preview since early 2024 and has seen significant updates in the recent "What's New" (March 2026) documentation, it is reaching a high level of maturity.
