Vision Pro (visionOS 26.3 RC): Intune MAM “Minimum OS Version” policy suddenly blocks Teams (says OS too old)

Hi everyone, we’re currently testing the Microsoft Teams app on Apple Vision Pro in our tenant and ran into an issue since installing the visionOS 26.3 Release Candidate.

We are using an Intune App Protection Policy (MAM) with Minimum OS version = 17.3 configured. This has been working fine across multiple visionOS 26 builds, including visionOS 26.3 Beta 3.

However, after upgrading to the 26.3 RC, Teams is now blocked by the MAM policy and shows an error like:

“Your OS is too old. Minimum required OS version is 17.3.”

Which is confusing, because the device is on visionOS 26.3 RC, so it should obviously be above 17.3.

Questions:

Is anyone else seeing this behavior with Teams on Vision Pro / visionOS 26.3 RC?

Is this a known issue (policy evaluation / OS version detection), or could it require an update of the Teams app?

What’s the best channel to provide feedback to Microsoft for this (Intune / Teams / Apple Vision Pro support)?

I already submitted feedback via the Apple Feedback app, but I’m unsure whether this is an Apple-side OS version reporting issue, or something that Microsoft needs to update in Teams / Intune.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Marcel,

Thank you for posting your question on the Microsoft Q&A forum, and for taking the time to describe the situation in such detail.

A MAM policy requiring a minimum OS version of 17.3 blocking Microsoft Teams on a device running visionOS 26.3 RC does suggest that something may not be aligning correctly in how the OS version is being detected or evaluated. In environments where multiple components come together. It can be challenging to determine whether the root cause lies in OS version reporting, Intune policy evaluation, or how the Teams app interprets that information.

As a forum moderator, my role is mainly centered around general, out‑of‑the‑box Teams functionality. I don’t have access to internal diagnostic tools, backend telemetry, or the specific permissions needed to deeply analyze Intune policy behavior or visionOS‑specific scenarios.

Given the added complexity of this setup, and the fact that it involves a beta/RC platform, this is an area where the dedicated product and engineering teams would be better equipped to take a closer look and provide a more definitive answer. For that reason, the most effective next step would be to raise a support ticket through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.  Benutzerbild

Note: If you are an end user without admin access, please contact your IT administrator and ask them to submit the ticket on your behalf.

Once the case is opened, specialized support engineers can review Intune MAM policy evaluation, OS version detection, and Teams app compatibility together. They can then work more closely with you to investigate the behavior in detail and provide guidance, next steps, or a resolution based on their findings.

I sincerely hope the support team can shed more light on this quickly. Thank you again for sharing your experience and for your patience.
