Privilege "Restricted View" not working as expected on Microsoft Teams App for IPad/iPhone

Hi guys,

We have the following problem with the Microsoft Teams App for iOS: We use the "Restricted View" setting in Sharepoint for a specific team to prevent the download of shared documents. However, this setting does not work properly for iPad and iPhone. The file cannot be displayed at all, you only get the error message with the crashed paper airplane and the text "Something went wrong.". In the Android and Win desktop app, the option works as desired. It also works if you use the web version of Teams on Apple devices (in Safari). Only the app for iOS has this problem.

Anyone else having this problem or maybe a solution?

As you mentioned, the feature works correctly on Android and Windows desktop apps, as well as the web version of Teams on Apple devices. This suggests that the issue is specific to the Teams app for iOS.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a direct solution available at the moment. However, you could try the following workaround:

Use the web version of Teams on your Apple devices as it seems to respect the "Restricted View" setting.
You could also try using the Azure Information Protection (AIP) mobile viewer apps to open protected files.
