Bei der Bereitstellung eines SAP S/4HANA System bekomme ich die folgenden Fehlermeldung:

Für die Deserialisierung wurde eine ungültige Zeichenfolge übergeben. Mögliche Ursachen: Fehler beim Vorgang aufgrund einer ungültigen Eingabe. Empfohlene Aktion: Wenn das Problem weiterhin besteht, wenden Sie sich an den Support. (Code: InvalidOrNonDeserializableString)

Hi Manesh, I tried to repeat a couple of times. Always w/o success. Then I switched to logon in English as my first attempts were in German logon language. After switching logon language to English the error disappeared.

Maybe you can check language/translation issues on the platform. I did noch use any special characters in any of the parameters. But I don't know what is happening in the background.

Der Fehler "Invalid string passed for deserialization (Code: InvalidOrNonDeserializableString)" erscheint, wenn ARM Eingabewerte erhält, die während der SAP S/4HANA-Bereitstellung nicht mit dem erwarteten Schema übereinstimmen.

Obwohl die Azure Center for SAP-Lösungen Namen und Parameter überprüft, kann die Verwendung einer nicht-englischen Portalsprache einige versteckte Formatierungs- oder Lokalisierungsfehler wie Zeichenänderungen, Trennzeichen oder Kodierungsunterschiede einschleichen. Diese sind in der Benutzeroberfläche nicht offensichtlich, können aber den Deserialisierungsprozess von ARM durcheinanderbringen.

Wenn du deine Portalsprache auf Englisch wechselst, werden alle Parameter in einem standardisierten, nicht lokalisierten Format gesendet, was ARM und die SAP-Deployment-Engine erwarten. Deshalb ist das Problem behoben, nachdem du die Sprache geändert hast.

Die Schema-Validierung von ARM ist ziemlich streng, sodass selbst ein winziges unerwartetes Zeichen oder eine Kodierungsanpassung einen generischen Deserialisierungsfehler auslösen kann, selbst wenn die Benutzeroberfläche in Ordnung wirkt.

Um dieses Problem bei zukünftigen SAP-Implementierungen zu vermeiden, empfiehlt Microsoft folgende Best Practices:

Verwenden Sie Englisch als Azure-Portal-Sprache, wenn Sie SAP-Workloads über Azure Center for SAP-Lösungen bereitstellen.

Halten Sie sich strikt an die Namenskonventionen von SAP und Azure für alle Eingabefelder (SAP-SID, Name der virtuellen Instanz, Ressourcengruppe, VNet, Subnetze).

Geben Sie alle Parameter manuell ein, anstatt Werte aus externen Quellen zu kopieren, um versteckte Zeichen zu vermeiden.

Versuchen Sie die Bereitstellung als neue Bereitstellung nach Korrektur der Eingaben, da ARM-Validierungen zur Einreichungszeit durchgeführt werden.

The error “Invalid string passed for deserialization (Code: InvalidOrNonDeserializableString)” occurs when Azure Resource Manager (ARM) receives input values that do not strictly match the expected schema during SAP S/4HANA deployment via Azure Center for SAP solutions.
This issue is typically triggered by invalid, unsupported, or hidden characters in deployment inputs, even if those values appear valid in the Azure portal UI. Common causes include:

SAP System ID (SID) not following the exact 3‑character uppercase format.
Use of underscores, spaces, lowercase letters, or special characters in SAP‑related names (SID, virtual instance name, resource group, VNet, or subnet).
Hidden or localized characters introduced through copy‑paste or when using a non‑English Azure portal language, which can alter encoding or formatting.
Trailing spaces or invisible characters that are not flagged by the UI but fail ARM deserialization.

This behavior is by design and enforced by the SAP on Azure deployment engine through strict ARM schema validation.

To avoid this issue and ensure a successful deployment, please follow these best practices:

Use English as the Azure portal language when deploying SAP workloads to avoid localization or encoding issues.
Strictly follow SAP and Azure naming conventions for all inputs:
- SAP SID: exactly 3 characters, uppercase letters only, starting with a letter.
- Virtual Instance name: lowercase alphanumeric and hyphens only.
- Resource Group, VNet, Subnet names: alphanumeric and hyphens only (no underscores or special characters).
- Manually type all values in the deployment wizard. Avoid copying from documents or scripts to prevent hidden characters.
Retry the deployment as a new deployment after correcting the inputs, as ARM validations occur at submission time.

Once all invalid or localized strings are removed, the deployment should proceed successfully.
