Stream Deck - Discontinue of required API

I use Elgate Stream Deck and Teams and am currently reading the message “The Microsoft Teams plugin for Stream Deck will be removed from Elgato Marketplace in December 2025. This follows Microsoft's decision to discontinue the API required for integration. Once the API is taken offline, existing Teams actions on your Stream Deck will no longer function.”

First question: Why?

Second question: Is there a replacement that will allow me to continue triggering Teams actions using Stream Deck?

    Hi @FabianBecker

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

We understand that many of you are disappointed by the deprecation of the API that enabled Stream Deck integration with Teams meetings. This functionality has been genuinely useful, and we recognize how much it has helped streamline your workflows.

As moderators, we can only share guidance based on publicly available Microsoft resources and community insights. The decision to retire this API was made by the product team, and unfortunately, we don’t have further details to provide on the reasoning behind it.

At this time, Microsoft has not announced an official replacement or alternative API for Stream Deck integration. Once the current API is retired, the official plugin will no longer function.

However, other users have suggested a practical workaround, you can map Teams keyboard shortcuts to Stream Deck buttons, such as:

    -Mute/Unmute: Ctrl + Shift + M

    -Toggle Camera: Ctrl + Shift + O

    -Raise Hand: Ctrl + Shift + K

While this doesn’t fully replicate the previous integration, it can help preserve some of the convenience you’re used to.
