Hi 정화 함
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum.
Thanks for reaching out and sharing your issue. I completely understand you are in an urgent situation and need to use Microsoft Word.
Based on what you've described, the issue likely stems from a region mismatch with your Microsoft account. Since your account was created in Korea, Microsoft treats it as a Korean-region account by default. Payment methods (like credit cards or PayPal) for subscriptions such as Microsoft 365 must typically align with the account's registered country/region, billing address, and sometimes even your current location or IP address. This can block cards from other countries due to regional pricing, tax laws, or fraud prevention rules. Attempting to use a German card on a Korean account (or vice versa) often fails, as Microsoft validates the card's issuing country against the account details.
For example:
- German cards are tied to EU billing rules and may not process on a non-EU account.
- Korean cards might fail if your IP shows you're in Germany, triggering location-based restrictions.
- PayPal has similar region locks; it needs to match the account's country.
Please consider changing your Microsoft account region to see if this resolves the problem:
- Sign in to your Microsoft account: https://account.microsoft.com/
- Look for "Your info" and then find the "Country/region" setting > Change your country to Germany.
- If the option is grayed out or blocked: Check for any active subscriptions under "Services & subscriptions" on the same page and cancel them if needed (you can resubscribe later).
- After you have successfully changed your region to Germany, please try adding your German credit card or PayPal again to see if it works now.
If you need immediate access, you can sign up for a free one-month trial of Microsoft 365 as a temporary workaround. This will give you instant access to Word and other apps while you sort out the payment problem: Microsoft 365 Free Trial
Please note: My troubleshooting steps were written primarily for a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family account. If I have misunderstood your situation (for example, if you are using a Business account), please don't hesitate to clarify, and I will adjust my recommendations accordingly.
