Title: Hacked Hotmail account: No response to recovery request – how can I get help?

Hello,

My Hotmail account was taken over by someone who changed my password, removed my recovery email addresses and added an unknown Gmail address to my security information.

I have already submitted the official account recovery form, but I have not received a response yet. I have also tried Microsoft's support and recovery tools, but I keep getting redirected to the same automated steps.

This account has been part of my life for around 20 years. It contains personal information and old emails that mean a lot to me, including messages from my late mother. The thought of losing those memories is genuinely painful.

I understand that Microsoft must protect accounts and verify identities. I am not asking anyone to bypass those security checks. I am simply asking for a way to have my case reviewed by the appropriate team.

Could someone please explain how I can check whether my recovery request was received, report the account takeover to the security team, and find out whether anything can be done to prevent further misuse of my account?

I would be deeply grateful for any concrete guidance. I don't want to give up on an account that has been part of my life for so long.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

You're welcome! When I tried it before, I was able to get to a form similar to ACSR. It should be this form https://aka.ms/recovermyaccount you should get an email response within 4 hours the latest. The team on the other end will help work through the issue with you.
Note: The form is hosted on the Xbox support site but is available to all Microsoft account holders not just those who use Xbox.

Hi there! I'm sorry you're going through this, especially with so many important memories tied to your account.

May I ask which exact form you submitted? Was it the Microsoft account recovery form (ACSR) at https://account.live.com/acsr, or the hacked-account recovery option on Microsoft's support page? You can find the Microsoft recovery guide for hacked accounts here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/accounts-billing/manage/how-to-recover-a-hacked-or-compromised-microsoft-account

If you follow the guide correctly, you should get to a form different from the ACSR page that will allow you to submit a report/ticket to Microsoft. I hope the information helps somehow!
