Why does Windows on the new "Copilot PC" laptop use 20% (6.4 GB) of RAM without any browser open?

I have a new laptop; I’ve only installed Discord, a browser, and the drivers—I thought it was a normal computer. But then I was surprised that this PC with 32 GB of RAM couldn’t run certain apps (along with Discord and YouTube) without the RAM getting almost full. I found out that just to free up 1–2 GB, I had to close WorkloadsSessionHost.exe and WorkloadsSessionManager.exe. Is there a better way to prevent Windows from using so much RAM and, in general, system resources like disk space?

It is normal for Windows to use 4GB - 5GB of RAM just for the operating system alone, Windows 11 is very resource hungry.

Workloadssessionhost is a process in Windows usually on Copilot+ PC's used for the Ai functionality.

Open the Settings App.

Go to Settings - Privacy & Security

Disable or reset the Recall and Click to Do settings to check if that reduces the resources used by workloadssessionhost process.

Browsers like Chrome, Edge... etc. are among the most resource hungry apps installed on your PC, try to minimize the amount of tabs you have open in your browser to lower its RAM usage.

Yes, but Recall is turned off, and so is Click to Do. Is there any other way to reduce system resource usage, because WorkloadsSessionHost.exe and WorkloadsSessionManager.exe still start up every time I boot up? Also, the longer they run, the more resources they consume.

Thank you for that information.

Click your Start Button, then just type Services and press Enter.

In the resulting list of services, scroll down to find the 'Windows AI Fabric' Service

Double click that service to open it.

Stop that service, then set its Startup type to disabled.

Save that setting, then restart (not shut down) your PC to apply the change.

jaky mas presne problem? Moderni OS vyuzivaji maximum dostupne pameti pro optimalizaci vykonu. V idealnim pripade zaberou klidne veskkerou dostupnou pamet.

Nebo jinymi slovy: RAM je dost nakladny prostredek a byl by hrichj nechat ji ladem.
