Hi, I'm a complete noob at this so please bear with me.
I have a customer who regularly scans their windows machines with Qualsys security scanner for vulnerabilities. They discovered one in the ODBC and MS SQL OLEDB driver which was in version 18.6. installed on one of the machines running one Verint app utilizing the installed MS SQL server there on the same machine.
So, I have updated the MS SQL OLEDB driver to the latest version available (currently 19.3.2). But the qualsys scanner still reports the old version 18.5.0.0 in %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\msoledbsql.dll Version is 18.5.0.0 and %SYSTEMROOT%\SysWOW64\msoledbsql.dll Version is 18.5.0.0 But at the same time there is a file named msoledbsql19.dll in the same directories.
The customer recommends to simply delete the old .dll file and just keep the version 19, but since I do not know the use and relations of these files I'm pretty much afraid to delete those.

checking the registry there are indeed two versions
ODBC seems to be OK now, not alarming in Qualsys.
Can someone please advise what should be the correct way to approach this?
How do I know that the %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\msoledbsql.dll and/or %SYSTEMROOT%\SysWOW64\msoledbsql.dll isn't still used by the Verint app or by the SQL itself?
Is it safe to just delete the msoledbsql.dll file ? Wouldn't it cause corruption of the databases or other problems?
Seeing the SQL server versions installed, is it safe to delete/uninstall the old .dll ? How to?
So many questions I don't know answers to... :(
Thank you for your qualified replies.
