Can I take MS digital image starter eddition 2006 from my old computer and move it to my new computer?

Or can I find and purchase an easy to use picture editor similar to the one mentioned above?

Hi,

Microsoft no longer provides a way to download it since it was discontinued years ago. If you still have the original CD installer, you can try installing it on your new computer, but I doubt it will work smoothly due to compatibility issues with newer systems.

If you want an alternative, you can try these apps and see what works for you.

Installed programs normally cannot be moved from an old PC to a new PC by simply copying them. Programs are tied to the old Windows installation through system files and registry entries, so they usually need to be reinstalled on the new PC.

For an older app like Microsoft Digital Image Starter Edition 2006, copying it from the old computer is not the supported approach. Personal files such as pictures can be transferred, but applications should be installed again if an installer and a valid license are available.

    For the move itself:

    1. Transfer pictures and other personal files with OneDrive, or copy them with an external USB drive or hard drive.
    2. On the old PC, copy folders such as Pictures, Documents, and Desktop to the external drive.
    3. On the new PC, open File Explorer > This PC, open the external drive, and copy the files into the folders wanted on the new PC.
    4. Reinstall any apps separately rather than copying their program folders.

The context does not provide a supported recommendation for purchasing a similar picture editor.
