To stop getting Windows Insider builds and move back toward stable Windows, unenroll the device from the Insider Program.

On Windows 11:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Windows Update.
  3. Select Windows Insider Program.
  4. Choose Stop getting preview builds (or Stop Insider Preview Builds).
  5. Follow the on‑screen instructions to unenroll the device.
  6. Restart the PC when prompted.

If the device is on a Beta or Release Preview channel and currently running a public (production) build, turning on Stop getting preview builds will opt it out and keep it on the next stable release.

If the device is on a Dev/Canary channel and you want to stop immediately, a clean installation of Windows may be required to return fully to stable builds. In that case, back up files first, then reinstall Windows using official installation media.

Hi John,

Queued for Unenrollment is good, but

that could be months away. Are you OK with that?

Knowing which build you're on would

be a big help.

Hi John,

Leaving the Insider Program depends

on what Insider build & Channel you're in.

Use WIN+R, type winver and that shows

the build #.
