Why can't I find my child's tag when trying to add them to a Minecraft realm?

Hi there,

I've been trying for hours to add my children to a Minecraft realm, but with no success. Whenever I enter their tags it says Player not found.

I've given them the following settings at https://www.xbox.com/en-GB/user/settings/privacy-and-safety.

Privacy tab:

  • Others can communicate with voice, text or invites
  • Others can send you friend requests
  • Others can follow you

Xbox and Windows 10 devices Online Safety tab

  • You can join cross-network play
  • You can create and join clubs
  • You can join multiplayer games
  • You can add friends and follow others

I've even changed their ages to over 10 at https://account.live.com/mykids.aspx.

Is there anything else I may be missing?

Kind regards,

Tom

    Hey there, Tom

Please can you try adding your children as friends. Then try adding them to the Realm on Minecraft?

Are their ages on their Microsoft accounts set to under 13?

    Thanks,
    Nathan

It sounds like you've already configured many of the necessary privacy settings for your children to be able to join a Minecraft realm. However, there are a few additional considerations that might help resolve the issue:

    1. Account Linking: Ensure that your children's Xbox accounts are properly linked to their Minecraft accounts. Sometimes, if the accounts are not linked, it can result in issues when trying to add them to realms.
    2. Age Restrictions: Even though you've changed their ages to over 10, make sure that the accounts are not still classified under child accounts, which can have additional restrictions. The definition of a child account can vary based on local laws and the age of majority in your region.
    3. Privacy Settings: Double-check that the settings allow for cross-network play and that there are no restrictions on adding friends or joining multiplayer games. Sometimes, settings may not save correctly, so it's worth revisiting them.
    4. Check Tags: Ensure that you are entering the correct tags for your children's accounts. Sometimes, a simple typo or incorrect tag can lead to the "Player not found" error.
    5. Network Issues: Occasionally, network issues can cause problems with connecting to realms. Ensure that your internet connection is stable and that there are no issues with the Xbox Live services.

If you've checked all the above and are still having trouble, you may want to consult the Xbox support resources for further assistance.
