I have a problem logging into Teams with my student account. When I click on the account I want to sign in with, nothing happens, as can be seen in the attached screenshots. Sometimes I also receive an error, but this started happening some time ago. The problem appeared on a random day when I was logged out of my account and was no longer able to log back in. I would like to know how I can solve this issue, since it was working before. I am using the Windows 11 operating system, and all updates are up to date. I tried to reinstall the app from the Microsoft Store and from the Teams website. I also tried installing several versions of the app, but none of them work. The only version that works is the web version of the application

Hi @Andrei,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your sharing, since you can work properly in the Teams web version, the issue is highly due to corrupted Teams app data or cached credentials got stuck. Since you have tried reinstalling Teams, but the issue still persists, I suggest you should double check with these workarounds:

1/ Check date & time

Changing the system time zone can help fix login issues caused by incorrect time settings that can prevent Teams from communicating with the server. This can be done by accessing your computer's Date and Time settings and adjusting the time zone accordingly.

  • Right‑click the clock > Select Adjust date & time
  • Turn on Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically
  • Click Sync now.

set time automatically

2/ Fully close and restart Teams

  • Right‑click the Teams icon in the system tray > Quit
  • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc)
  • Find Microsoft Teams, select it > End task
  • Relaunch Teams.

end teams task

3/ Reset the new Teams app

  • Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Teams (work or school) > Advanced options > Reset. If it doesn't work, select Repair.

4/ Clear sign‑in tokens & credentials

  • First going to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school > Select your school account > Disconnect

(If this is a company‑managed device, removing the account may also remove MDM/Intune management. If unsure, skip this step.)

  • Open the Control Panel on your PC and Go to User Accounts > Credential Manager.
  • Under both Windows Credentials and Generic Credentials, look for any entries related to your school account > select and remove those entries.
  • Restart your computer, add your account in Settings > Account > Access work or school again and try signing in to Teams to see if the issue persists.

5/ Contact your school IT admin

  • If the problem persists, I recommend contacting your school IT administrator for further assistance. There is a possibility that your account is not allowed to access Desktop app via Conditional Access policy. Your administrator can help you verify the status of your account and provide proper assistance based on your situation. If needed, they can submit a support ticket through the Microsoft 365 admin center for further investigation.

I hope this helps you move forward smoothly. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Looking forward to your response.
