How can I transfer my current free Outlook mail to a new account without losing my perks or legacy status?

Hi everyone

TLDR:

The gist of this long email is: How do I rename my current account or create a new account or transfer my current account to a new one without losing my long standing stauts and perks and bing rewards?

Details:

I have had my free Hotmail/Outlook since 1995 and I don't have to tell you about the history or the bad reputation of Hotmail being associated with shady unethical spammers and some providers even blocking me thinking I was one. Through thick and thin, I've stayed with Microsoft because most of us use Windows and Microsoft services, and nowadays, Microsoft forces you to create a Microsoft account if you're using Windows 10 or 11.

I'm getting an average of 80-100 spam emails daily. I block them and I report them, but oddly, Microsoft counts them as emails sent manually and blocks me from sending personal emails, saying I have exceeded my daily quota of sending emails! How can reporting spam count toward the daily quota? This is so ludicrous!

I have set my settings to strict and anyone not in my address book is automatically sent to the junk folder. Microsoft does a horrible job of preventing spam. I think they allow them on purpose because spam traffic generates revenues for them! Strict settings causes me a lot of pain to sift through around 100 spam to make sure I don't block or report legit emails.

Blocking spam is really useless, because Microsoft's server side filters on the Exchange server mark them as spam but still insult us by delivering them into our accounts inbox or junk email folders and ignoring our block list which is very disrespectful. Why not just delete them as soon as the Exchange servers flag them as spam, instead of delivering them to our account and ignoring or disrepecting our filters?

To add insult to injury they defer the free users to the Open Community for help and don't allow us to open support tickets directly! At least I can't find any forms or portal in their support section to open a ticket.

BTW, I have not signed up for any services on any shady sites. All of my subscriptions are with legit sites like Linkedin, IBM, Yahoo, etc. But Microsoft tech insulted me by saying I signed up for spam. When in fact all the high volume spam in my Hotmail account coincide with numerous Microsoft breaches and the recent 16 billion accounts breach that happened a few months ago.

Is there any way to transfer or rename my account?

Thank you

Hi Xia,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand that you want to move your Outlook/Hotmail account to a new one while keeping all legacy perks, status, and Bing Rewards points. Unfortunately, Microsoft does not allow merging accounts or transferring points, purchases, or legacy status between accounts.

You can add a new email address as an alias to your existing Microsoft account. This lets you use a new address while keeping your inbox, files, and account history. Please refer to the official documentation for detailed steps: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/add-or-remove-an-email-alias-in-outlook-com-459b1989-356d-40fa-a689-8f285b13f1f2

If you must create a new account, you can export emails, contacts, and calendar items from your old account and import them into the new one using PST files or migration tools. We recommend using the Outlook Desktop version for a smoother transfer.

About Bing Rewards points and legacy status:

  • Bing Rewards points cannot be transferred between accounts.
  • Legacy status tied to your original account cannot be moved to a new account.
