Install windows update from the 15th or so last week, upon reboot ethernet, wifi, and bluetooth internet connectivity is completely lost. Troubleshooter has claimed DNS can’t be resolved, DHCS can’t be found, local network use only. Tried different phone hotspots, different wifis, tried uninstalling drivers (now I can’t reinstall them without internet), rolling back all the updates I can hasn’t helped. I haven’t had internet for a week and I cannot download any updates to fix it or reinstall any drivers.

Hi,

Next, try removing any leftover Wi-Fi profiles or VPNs that might be interfering with routing or DNS by using netsh wlan show profiles to list them and netsh wlan delete profile name="ProfileName" to remove unneeded ones, then reconnect to your network. If DNS continues to fail, manually set it to a reliable server like Google (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1 / 1.0.0.1) via Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Hardware Properties > Edit IP settings, switching to Manual and enabling IPv4. Also, temporarily disable Windows Firewall or any security software in case updated rules are blocking outgoing traffic. Even if Device Manager looks fine, reinstalling the network driver from a USB using another PC, or rolling back to an older version, can rule out driver corruption introduced by the update. If all else fails, a Windows repair install (keeping apps and files) can restore broken system network components without wiping your PC.

Kind regards,

    Hi,

Try doing a Network Reset from Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset, which reinstalls all network adapters and restores default settings. If that doesn’t help, open Command Prompt (Admin) and run these commands one by one: netsh winsock reset, netsh int ip reset, ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew, and ipconfig /flushdns, these clear corrupted network settings that often cause DNS or DHCP errors. Also, check that key services like DHCP Client and DNS Client are running in services.msc; updates sometimes disable them. If there’s still no connection, use another computer to download your Ethernet or Wi-Fi drivers from your device manufacturer and reinstall them via USB, since the update may have removed or damaged the originals. By the way, do your network adapters still appear normally in Device Manager, or are they showing any yellow warning icons?

    Kind regards,
