How can I access my personal quarantine area for MFA Verification email access?

I am not receiving verification number emails for many of my entities that send me verification numbers as part of a Multi-factor authentication process. Malwarebytes is one, in addition to my Roku, lately, one of the financial institutes I work with is another source I am unable to receive.

Dear Lisa Parrell,

Thank you for posting your question to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Before we begin, please note that Personal Microsoft accounts do not have a user-accessible quarantine area. Therefore, the solution is to proactively manage your settings to ensure legitimate emails are not blocked in the first place.

Here are the steps to fix your issue:

Step 1. Add Senders to Your "Safe Senders and Domains" List

This is the most important step. You are telling Outlook to always trust emails from these companies.

  1. Log in to Outlook.com.
  2. Click the Settings gear icon (⚙️) in the top-right corner.
  3. Go to Mail > Junk email.
  4. Under the "Safe senders and domains" section, click +Add. Add the domains (the part after the @ sign) for the services you use. For example:
    • malwarebytes.com
    • roku.com
    • The domain of your financial institution (e.g., bankofamerica.com)
  5. Click Save.

Step 2. Check Your "Blocked Senders" List

While on the same "Junk email" settings page, quickly look at your "Blocked senders and domains" list to make sure you haven't accidentally blocked them in the past. If you see them, remove them.

Step 3. Create a Rule to Prioritize These Emails

This is a powerful way to ensure delivery to your inbox.

  1. Go to Settings (⚙️) > Mail > Rules.
  2. Click +Add new rule.
  3. Name the rule something like "MFA Codes".
  4. For the condition, select "From" and enter one of the company domains (e.g., roku.com). You can add more conditions for other domains.
  5. For the action, select "Move to" and choose your "Inbox".
  6. Important: Check the box for "Stop processing more rules". This prevents other filters from moving the email to Junk after it arrives in your inbox.
  7. Click Save.

Please let me know how these suggestions work for you, or if you'd like assistance in navigating Microsoft's support channels.
