I've had a series of issues crop up in the last week. Today Outlook says I don't have a subscription, which I certainly do.

  1. a week ago I got an email saying my account had been suspended for inappropriate activity. I was able to unlock it.
  2. my outlook app on my iPhone now says I'm a "free user" and is showing me ads. I'm a paid user.
  3. I typed in my information (somewhere--I've been sent all over the Microsoft site) and it said there were no issues with my account.
  4. I can't get support because it wants me to login, which I can't. And clicking "can't login" gets me no where.
  5. I have no idea if this is part of the problem, but last month I was scammed and the group has my email address. But I've changed my password and use 2-factor and still it doesn't work,.

I got an email from Microsoft. It gives a precise reason for my issues: I didn't deactivate my 365 account on my old computer when I migrated to my new computer. I assume you were responsible for finding the correct help response. Thank you, thank you! I apologize for my snarky replies. You have been patient with me, and I appreciate that.

    Dear Michael Dempsey,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Community.

I understand how frustrating it must be to experience disruptions with your Outlook subscription, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Based on the information you provided, it appears that your email account may have been compromised through a scam. We recommend that you follow the steps below to address the issue:

    1. Use an Incognito/Private Browsing Tab

Sometimes cached data or cookies can interfere with login. Try opening an incognito/private tab and attempt to sign in again.

    2. Try a Different Browser

If the issue persists, please try accessing your account using a different browser (e.g., Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox) to rule out browser-specific problems.

    3. Fill recovery form: recover your account

The only way to recover your Microsoft account is by filling out the recovery form.   Please follow the instructions below carefully to give yourself the best chance of success when completing the form. Help with the Microsoft account recovery form - Microsoft Support

    4. Contact Microsoft support

If you are unable to complete the recovery form, please contact Microsoft Support so that a support agent can step in and help resolve the issue.

    • Go to Contact - Microsoft Support
    • Search for "Account Recovery" in the search box.
    • Click "Get Help" and press Enter.
    • Navigate through the support options to find "Contact Support."
    • Choose a relevant option like “Manage Account Security.”
    • For product/service, select "Other Products"
    • For category, choose "Manage Account Security"
    • Look for and select "Chat with a support agent in your web browser" or a similar callback option.
    • Clearly explain your situation

Important: I do not have the authority or ability to access or recover your Microsoft account. Only Microsoft can restore access through their official recovery and verification process.

When you encounter any error message after submitting the recovery form, please take a screenshot of the message and share it with me so I can verify whether the issue falls within the scope of support.

To better assist you, could you please clarify what happens when you try to sign in?

    • Are you receiving an error message (e.g., incorrect password, account not found, or something else)?
    • If possible, please take a screenshot of the error and share it with me so I can deeply understand this issue.

If your recovery attempts have failed, you should contact Microsoft Support directly and provide proof of ownership, such as:

    • Purchase receipts (e.g., for Minecraft, Xbox, or Microsoft Store),
    • Screenshots showing account activity (e.g: Xbox, Skype),
    • Billing information previously linked to the account.

However, if all recovery attempts continue to fail, it usually means the account is considered unrecoverable. In that case, creating a new Microsoft account may be the only practical solution.

Once you have successfully recovered your account, you may check here to confirm that your subscription is active:

When I login with my email, I'm directed to a page that suggests that I do not have an account:

Microsoft emailed to say they could not verify my account. I don't understand how my email would yield nothing.

You suggest contacting Microsoft Support directly and provide proof of ownership. I'm sure I can get something from Paypal. The trick will be contacting support. How do I do that? MS support asks me to login in order to get help. It tells me there is no such account. When I call, the automated response will not let me speak to anyone. It redirects me to help.microsoft.com.

Please help. I need access to my documents now, as you can imagine.
