Hello,

I am using Windows 11 Home Single Language. Recently, I have been facing an issue where Windows Update always fails when I try to install the latest updates from Settings → Windows Update.

I have:

  • Tried the built-in Windows Update Trouble-shooter

Reset Windows Update components

Checked my internet connection and available storage

Rebooted multiple times and tried updating again

Unfortunately, every attempt failed with the same update error Install error - 0x80070002

In the end, I was able to update Windows only by downloading the ISO file from Microsoft and performing an in-place update

This process is time-consuming, and I want a permanent fix so I can update normally from Windows Update in the future without having to use the ISO method.

Please suggest a permanent solution or any deeper troubleshooting steps to prevent this from happening again.

System Info:

  • Edition: Windows 11 Home Single Language
  • Version: 24H2
  • Build: 26100.4652
  • Device: Laptop(Lenovo Idea pad Slim3)

Thank you.

Your build number indicates your system is up to date as of the July 8th update, but you are missing the August update that was released on Tuesday, is that update listed in the updates section in the Settings app, and if so, if it is failing, what is the error code indicated, please provide a screenshot.
