Are you using the "New" Outlook"

The "New" Outlook is just a rebadged version of Windows Mail and like its predecessor, it is not MAPI compliant and therefore cannot be used the send\share Word documents.

Take a look at:

You can't open classic Outlook on a new Windows PC - Microsoft Support

Use Classic Outlook, not New Outlook

yes I could send mail directly from outlook.

the problem arises when I try to send a copy of the Word document using the blue "Share: button at the top right corner. Sending a link works though. Thanks

Yes Doug, thanks heaps. The function is working now. Had to uninstall the New Outlook before the system allows installation of Classic Outlook.

Wonder why they tinkered with the previous system.

Do you mean Word > Share? as an attachement?

Can you send mail normally in MS Outlook?
