Hi can someone help me please. I do not know why but my word has suddenly switched to these settings and will not be fixed no matter what i try. It does not auto adjust to reflect the margins and correct spacing for the document anymore.

You have turned off the display of "white space."

Elusive White Space by Suzanne Barnhill, MVP

If you move your mouse pointer to the top of the page just under the ribbon the pointer will change. A message should pop up.

Double-Click on it and you will be restored.

This is also governed in File > Options > Display.

This governs the display of the header/footer area when you are in Print Layout view. It is relatively easy to turn off with a stray mouse click.
